The Volkswagen Transporter, part of the Volkswagen Group's T platform, is a series of vans that has been manufactured for over 70 years and is sold globally. Currently in its seventh generation, the Transporter has become an integral part of the Volkswagen Group's automotive lineup. The generations are sequentially named T1 through T7, with earlier versions being known as Type 2 before the introduction of the T platform designation. The Type 2 nomenclature indicated its relation to the iconic Type 1 Beetle. The first three generations, originally known as Type 2, have been retroactively designated as T1, T2, and T3 within the T platform system.
