The Renault 5, a popular supermini hatchback, was produced by French automaker Renault in two generations spanning from 1972 to 1996. Known as the R5 in its earlier generation and as the Super 5 or Supercinq in the later generation, this car featured a front-engine layout and front-wheel drive. The Renault 5 was introduced to the United States and Canada as Le Car from 1976 to 1983, offering a compact and practical driving option.
