The Nissan Avenir, a series of station wagons introduced in May 1990 by Nissan in Japan, initially included a budget-friendly delivery van version known as the Avenir Cargo. In 1999, the delivery van was rebranded as the Nissan Expert. The Avenir lineup was designed to replace the longstanding Nissan Bluebird wagon and delivery van models. It served as a larger alternative to the Nissan Wingroad and Nissan AD van. The Nissan Expert version that debuted in 1999 took over the cargo-carrying responsibilities previously held by the Nissan Cedric and Gloria delivery vans.
