The Fiat Ritmo was a small, front-engine, front-wheel drive family car produced by Fiat from 1978 to 1988, with two facelifts during its production run. This vehicle was initially unveiled at the Turin Motor Show in April 1978 and was available in 3- and 5-door hatchback as well as cabriolet body styles. The car was marketed under the name Ritmo in various countries, while in the UK, US, and Canada, it was known as the Strada. Designed by Sergio Sartorelli at Fiat's Centro Stile in Turin, the Ritmo was a response to European manufacturers launching small family hatchbacks in the 1970s. SEAT, a subsidiary of Fiat, also began producing their version of the Ritmo, called the SEAT Ronda, following a facelift in 1982. The name Ritmo is Italian for "rhythm," highlighting the car's dynamic and energetic design, while Strada translates to "road," emphasizing its versatility and road performance. Production of the Fiat Ritmo reached approximately 1,790,000 units by early 1988, when it was succeeded by the Fiat Tipo.
