Even though both models were available simultaneously until 1992, the XJ40 brought significant advancements to the range. Featuring Jaguar's independent rear suspension system, the XJ40 incorporated modern technology like an electronic instrument cluster, setting it apart from its predecessors. In 1993, the XJ6 variant of the XJ40 was recognized as the "Safest Car in Britain" following a government assessment, highlighting its commitment to safety. In 1994, Jaguar revamped the XJ series
