Rebadged Renault 12, built under licence in Romania. The Dacia 1300 is a medium-sized family car manufactured by Romanian automaker Dacia during the Cold War era. It is based on the Renault 12 and was first produced on August 23, 1969. The car was created with the aim of reducing Romania's dependence on imported consumer goods by acquiring the tooling and design of a western vehicle. The "1300" in the name represents the engine displacement of the car. The production of the Dacia 1300 continued for over three decades, with the last sedan version, the Dacia 1310, rolling out of the Mioveni production facility on July 21, 2004. This final model bore the serial number 1,959,730
