The BMW M5 G90, introduced for the 2024 model year, is the eighth generation of BMW's high-performance executive sedan and the first M5 to adopt a plug-in hybrid drivetrain. Power comes from a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 paired with an electric motor, producing a combined output of 727 horsepower, making it the most powerful M5 produced to that point. With the optional M Driver's Package, top speed is raised to 305 km/h. The shift to electrification marks a significant mechanical departure from predecessors like the F90, while retaining the twin-turbo V8 architecture that has defined the M5 since the F10 generation.
