The S2 is the high-performance variant of the Coupe range, using a turbocharged five-cylinder engine producing 230 PS and 350 Nm of torque, enough to reach 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds through a manual quattro all-wheel-drive system. It spawned a dedicated S2 model line and connected the Coupe directly to Audi's Sport quattro motorsport heritage. The power and torque figures place it well above all other Coupe variants and in the same performance bracket as contemporary sports sedans of its era.
